belly up

Don't post mediocre porn. There's easily enough porn on SE as it is. I never intended this place to be a porn site, or even vaguely porn related. i just intended it to be UNCENSORED. there's a difference.

COUNTER-MILITARY GRAFFITI

I havent played counterstike recently, but before, if you used the right programs, you could make logos that were full colour and about twice as big as the regular ones. I loved spraying a picture of a naked man on the walls, you wouldnt believe how pissed off some of the players got when they saw it...

13 CONVERSATIONS ABOUT ONE THING / **** (R)

The film was directed by Jill Sprecher and written with her sister, Karen. It's their second, after "Clockwatchers" (1997), the lacerating, funny story about temporary workers in an office and their strategies to prove they exist in a world that is utterly indifferent to them. After these two movies, there aren't many filmmakers whose next film I anticipate more eagerly. They're onto something. They're using films to demonstrate something to us. Movies tell narratives, and the purpose of narrative is to arrange events in an order that seems to make sense and end correctly. The Sprechers are telling us if we believe in these narratives, we're only fooling ourselves.

FRESHWATER JELLYFISH DISCOVERED IN IDAHO BY GIRL SCOUTS (via glossosaurus :)

While learning to scuba dive on Sept. 21, 1997 at an old water-filled quarry, first one and then another girl spotted small quarter-sized creatures resembling what appeared to be jellyfish sharing the pond with them.

Their leader, who is by profession a science teacher in the Boise school district, didn't believe the girls and challenged them to show her one and prove it. They immediately did!

dirty, dirty mind-thoughts :)

they put his head in a drill press and bored holes through the left side of his face. they cracked his cheek bone and punctured an eye before they drilled a hole into his temple.

BEATRIX POTTER (via metafilter)

Beatrix began making detailed drawings of fungi which were both scientifically correct as well as aesthetically pleasing. In addition, she proposed some new ideas, including one (that lichens were really two organisms living together) which was later proved correct. In 1896, her uncle, Sir Henry Roscoe, took her to meet with the Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens and some other botanists. They looked at her drawings but wouldn't discuss them with her. After this disappointing appearance, her uncle encouraged her to write a paper about the spores of molds which was read at the Linnaean Society of London. (Beatrix could not present the paper herself because women were not allowed at these meetings.) After this, Beatrix became discouraged and started concentrating on animals.

At this time Beatrix was still collecting animals for two purposes. She used them to study, but also created characters with personalities based on the animals. For example, she had a pet hedgehog which she used to study the hibernation process. She named the hedgehog Mrs. Tiggy-winkle and used her in some of her stories. Eventually, a family friend recognized Beatrix's artistic talent and encouraged her to design a series of Christmas cards. She continued this for a while but eventually quit due to artistic differences.
